Global Issues Educator Resource Website Brainstorm Suggested Content 1. Resource Base · Contains resources for teachers (and students?) on topics related to global issues · Each of Rischard’s 20 issues has a section, plus sections for other issues that are relevant or of interest to students · Includes stuff like websites, lesson plans (it would be great if everyone shared), video links, texts available, power points, podcasts etc 2. Action Framework · A frame work for action such as an action model or inquiry cycle · Planning documents to help assist students take action on issues (this would also make it easier for teachers to facilitate this) 3. Celebration of Success · A section of the site for students to share projects they have been working on (and hopefully share how they did so others can benefit from that knowledge) · Allows students to network more effectively Suggested Creation Process Resource Base: 1. Committee decide on content and approach 2. Committee use collaborative software to pool ideas for resource collection 3. Google doc or etherpad doc set up for all teachers in the GIN network to share resources. Schools without access to this create documents on word etc and email to Justin 4. Jump interns process the info and use it to create the website Action Framework 1. Committee and teachers share ideas/ possible models on this (Roots and Shoots action model is an idea but is just a starting point) 2. Based on Hart’s ladder concept of trying to make it student centered and led 3. Teachers and students work together on this 4. Downloadable action model and planners etc placed on website Celebration of Success 1. Added to website as they happen (maybe need a wiki or NING type link so these can be uploaded) 2. Excellent examples are highlighted or emailed to GIN community
